Xigmatek Introduces the Aegir SD128264 CPU Cooler

Xigmatek today introduced its Aegir SD128264 CPU cooler. While it looks like yet another tower-design CPU cooler with push-pull ventilation, Xigmatek implemented a new technology in this cooler, which it calls “Double Layer with Heat-pipe Direct Touch” or DLHDT. The design involves four heatpipes, of which two are 8 mm thick and two are 6 mm thick (alternating), making direct contact with the processor, with another set of two heatpipes making direct contact with these four HDT heat pipes, so that some of the processor’s heat is indirectly offloaded to those heatpipes between the two sets of heat pipes. In all, the six heat pipes disperse heat to various parts of the aluminum fins.

The unit measures 120(W) x 120(H) x 25(D) mm, weighing 630 g. Air circulation is care of two 120 mm fans that guide air through the aluminum fin array at speeds between 1,000 and 2,200 rpm, with a noise level of 20 dBA. The fans are fitted with white LEDs. The cooler supports all current CPU socket types, including LGA1366, LGA1156, AM3/AM2(+), and LGA775. Xigmatek unfortunately, did not give out pricing or availability information.

GlacialTech Intros the Siberia Performance CPU Cooler

GlacialTech introduced its Siberia performance CPU cooler. The cooler makes use of two fans to push/pull air through a dense aluminum fin array that propagates along the plane of the motherboard, to which heat is conveyed by six heat pipes. The heat pipes make direct contact to the processor at the base, which doubles up as a small heatsink.

Air is pushed on to the fins by a 140 mm fan that spins at 800~1400 rpm, while is pushed out of the fin array by a 92 mm fan that spins at 1300 rpm. The gross dimensions of the cooler are 146 (W) x 150 (L) x 120 (H) mm, it weighs 620 g. A tube of IceTherm II thermal compound is bundled. The cooler will reach stores later this month, one can expect it to be moderately priced.

Thermalright Intros Silver Arrow CPU Cooler

Thermalright is readying a new CPU cooler modeled around the twin-block tower design that is getting some takers these days, the Silver Arrow. This cooler uses two aluminum fin blocks that dissipate heat from the CPU, with air circulated by two 140 mm TY-series fans. Heat is conveyed to the two blocks by four U-shaped 8 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The fans spin at 500-1300 rpm, with noise-levels of up to 21 dBA. All current CPU sockets are supported, including LGA1366, LGA1156, AM3/AM2(+), and LGA775. Pricing is yet to be known.

(PR) Lexar Announces Crucial Ballistix Memory Modules with Thermal Sensor

Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media, today announced Crucial Ballistix high-performance memory modules with thermal sensor and temperature-monitoring utility, encased in a radically redesigned and more effective heat spreader. The thermal sensor and monitoring utility allow PC enthusiasts to view memory module temperature in real time, a major benefit for overclockers and enthusiast users constantly battling against excessive system heat. Additionally, the new Crucial Ballistix modules feature a redesigned “finned” heat spreader design that reduces memory module temperature by up to 30% more than the current Crucial Ballistix design. The new Crucial Ballistix modules are initially available exclusively at popular online retailer Newegg.com.

“Ask any PC enthusiast and they’ll tell you that system heat is a constant concern,” said Crucial Ballistix senior product manager, Jeremy Mortenson. “Our new Crucial Ballistix memory modules offer two incredibly effective tools in memory cooling: thermal sensors for temperature monitoring, and an improved heat spreader design.”

Xilence Ready With M606 CPU Cooler

Xilence is ready with a new performance CPU cooler, the M606. With a typical aluminum fin tower design, the M606 can handle CPUs with TDPs of up to 150W. It makes use of six heat pipes to convey heat to a dense aluminum fin array, which dissipate heat to the air flow by 120 mm fan. The fan spins a 1500 rpm, and has a frame made of rubber, which dampens noise a little. All current sockets, including LGA 1366, LGA 1156, LGA 775, and AM3/AM2 are supported. The M606 will reach stores soon.

Prolimatech Makes Armageddon CPU Cooler Official

Spotted on several occasions prior to its launch, the Prolimatech Armageddon CPU cooler was finally announced to markets. The Armageddon is a retake on the tower-design CPU heatsink design. While essentially it’s the same as most heatsinks in its league, what’s new about its design is that the heat pipes that pass through the base contact the aluminum fins throughout their lengths (typically the pipes pass through the fins at their ends). Also, there are two blocks of aluminum fins, to which the heat pipes add turbulence. The two blocks are topped off with a metal cap.

The main unit measures 144 (W) x 160.3 (H) x 50 (D) mm, and weighs 750 g (1.65 lbs). 140 mm or 120 mm fans can be strapped onto it from either sides. The base and heat pipes are made of nickel-plated copper. The package includes no fan, but comes with a tube of Prolimatech PK-1 thermal paste. Out of the box the Armageddon supports most current Intel sockets including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, and LGA-775 using its bundled bolt-through retention module. AMD sockets AM3/AM2+ are also supported, but require an optional RM kit. Prolimatech’s newest creation will be available from April 2nd, at a price of 60 EUR.

Scythe Readies Susano and Yasya Cu CPU Coolers

Scythe showed off prototypes of two of its creations for the season, the Scythe Susano and Yasya Cu CPU coolers. The Susano is one of Scythe’s biggest CPU coolers. Its vast aluminum fin array covers the entire upper half of the average ATX motherboard. Its design involves a heatsink-turned CPU block, from which six copper heat pipes pass. These heat pipes convey heat to a large, roughly-square aluiminum fin array on which are latched four 120 mm fans. These blow air through the aluminum fin block, and onto several parts of the motherboard, including memory, northbridge and CPU VRM. The Yasya Cu is a slightly more in tune with the times. It is a copper-based variant of the Yasya CPU cooler. It uses the tried and tested tower design, and makes use of copper fins with a turbulent shape. Heat is conveyed to these fins using six copper heat pipes. Scythe did not give out a release date for these coolers.

EKL Readies Matterhorn CPU Cooler

EKL brand Alpenföhn unveiled its newest CPU cooler, the Matterhorn. This cooler measures 138 x 100 x 158 mm, and weighs 1067 g (2.35 lbs). The construction is similar to that of several coolers in its category. A pre-lapped copper base draws heat from the CPU. From this, six heatpipes pass, conducting heat to a block of aluminum fins. The fins have notches that help heat dissipation over the air being blown by an attached Föhn120 Wing Boost 120 mm fan, which spins at 500 to 1500 rpm, with a max noise output of 24.8 dBA. The Matterhorn supports most current CPU sockets including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, AM3, AM2(+). Its price and availability are yet to be known.
